To request changes to your policy, you'll need to contact your insurance agent. They will guide you through the process and ensure that any changes are accurately reflected in your policy. You may review your policy information via the policyholder portal.
If you received a cancellation notice despite your mortgage company handling your policy premium, it's crucial to contact both your mortgage company and your insurance agent immediately. There may have been a misunderstanding or error that needs to be resolved to prevent policy cancellation.
Patriot Select frequently will conduct certified inspections on homes we insure. Most inspections will be outside of the home, in which case you do not have to be present. Inspections help ensure your home is adequately insured and protected. If an interior inspection is necessary, the inspection company will contact you to schedule an inspection at your convenience.
A 4-point inspection typically assesses the condition of four key components of a home: the roof, electrical system, plumbing system, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system. This inspection helps us evaluate the risk associated with insuring your property.
A Wind Mitigation inspection is conducted to assess the preparedness of a home to withstand wind damage, particularly from hurricanes and other severe weather events. The inspection evaluates features such as the roof, doors, windows, and construction methods to determine if the home meets certain wind-resistant standards.
A deductible is the amount of money you are responsible for paying out of pocket before your insurance coverage kicks in. For example, if you have a $1,000 deductible and file a claim for $5,000 in covered damages, you would pay the first $1,000, and Patriot Select would cover the remaining $4,000.
For example, If your deductible is 2% of $300,000 in Coverage A and you file a claim for $10,000 covered damages then you would pay the first $6000 and Patriot Select would cover the remaining $4000.
Patriot Select policies do not cover damage caused by floods. However, you may be able to purchase separate flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) or a private insurer to protect your home and belongings from flood damage.
It's a good idea to review and adjust your homeowners' coverage after remodeling your home to ensure that it adequately reflects the increased value and changes to the property. Contact your insurance agent to discuss your remodeling project and update your coverage accordingly.
Actual Cash Value (ACV) is the current value of your property, taking into account depreciation over time. Replacement Cost Coverage, on the other hand, reimburses you for the cost of replacing damaged or lost property with new items of similar kind and quality, without deducting for depreciation.
Ordinance or Law Coverage provides protection for additional costs incurred to comply with building codes or laws when repairing or rebuilding your home after a covered loss. This coverage helps ensure that your home meets current building standards, even if it was built to code when originally constructed.
